Mr Suroosh Madanipour Consultant Profile

Mr Suroosh Madanipour is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement surgery. He helps patients overcome joint pain, restore mobility and return to the activities they enjoy. He has particular expertise in managing painful or failing joint replacements in a highly specialised tertiary centre.

His NHS base is at St George’s Hospital, London, and the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre. Suroosh obtained his medical degrees from the University of Cambridge and University College London. He then completed his specialist orthopaedic training at the Royal London Hospital. After this, he completed the world-renowned fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, where he gained extensive experience in modern advanced joint replacement techniques and complex revision surgery.

Before his appointment at St George’s, he worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, where he further developed his expertise in complex hip and knee reconstruction.

His research focuses on advanced techniques and outcomes in complex hip and knee replacement surgery. His work has been widely published in leading medical journals and presented at international conferences.

Mr Suroosh Madanipour believes that successful treatment begins with understanding each patient’s individual needs, expectations and lifestyle. He combines evidence-based surgical techniques and the latest innovations in orthopaedic surgery with clear communication, compassionate care and shared decision-making. This means his patients fully understand their diagnosis and treatment options and feel informed and confident throughout their treatment.

Not every patient with hip or knee pain needs surgery. Where appropriate, Mr Suroosh Madanipour supports non-operative treatments. When surgery is needed, he focuses on achieving reliable, long-lasting results so that patients can return to an active and fulfilling life.
