MRI Brain and Lumbar Spine Spectroscopy
Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) is an advanced add-on to MRI that provides deeper insight into the chemical composition of tissues, helping clinicians distinguish between healthy and abnormal areas in the brain and spine. At The London Clinic, this technique can support the assessment of chronic back pain by identifying changes within spinal discs that may not be visible on standard MRI scans.
As a non-invasive procedure, MRS can complement a routine MRI to provide more detailed diagnostic information, supporting precise treatment planning and more personalised care.
MRI Breast Biopsies
The London Clinic is one of the only private hospitals in the UK to offer MRI-guided vacuum breast biopsies. This advanced technique allows our specialists to investigate findings seen on MRI scans without the need for surgery, using a fine needle guided precisely by MRI images. It enables accurate diagnosis in a safe, minimally invasive way.
MRI-Guided Marker Insertion
Following an MRI-guided breast biopsy, a small metal marker can be placed in the breast to identify the exact biopsy site. Using live MRI images, our radiologists can position the marker with precision, helping future scans or surgical teams to locate the same area quickly and accurately. The clip is tiny, harmless, and remains in place for ongoing monitoring or further treatment if required.
