Mr Ahilan Kailaya-Vasan Consultant Profile

Mr Ahilan Kailaya-Vasan is a Consultant Neurosurgeon with a specialist interest in neurovascular and complex cerebrovascular surgery.

His practice encompasses the investigation, management and surgical treatment of vascular conditions affecting the brain. He has particular expertise in the management of intracranial aneurysms, brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), Moya Moya disease and cavernomas, including complex cases requiring specialist neurosurgical assessment and treatment.

Mr Kailaya-Vasan takes a multidisciplinary approach to neurovascular care, working closely with specialists across neuroradiology, interventional neuroradiology, neurology and other neuroscience disciplines. This allows treatment options to be considered individually, including whether surgery, endovascular treatment, radiosurgery, surveillance or a combination of approaches may be most appropriate.

Alongside his specialist neurovascular practice, Mr Kailaya-Vasan undertakes general cranial neurosurgery. His approach is centred on providing patients with a clear understanding of their diagnosis, the available treatment options and the potential benefits and risks of intervention.

He is also actively involved in research, education and the training of future neurosurgeons, with academic interests relating to neurovascular disease and contemporary approaches to neurosurgical treatment.
