Mr Sachin Malde
Mr Malde is a consultant urological surgeon specialising in bladder and prostate diseases. He has particular expertise in treating recurrent and chronic urinary tract infection (UTI), incontinence, prostate enlargement and bladder cancer. He offers a range of minimally-invasive treatments for these conditions including sacral nerve stimulation, Urolift and Rezum.
Bio
Mr Sachin Malde is an internationally renowned Consultant Urological Surgeon specialising in the treatment of benign prostate diseases in men, overactive bladder and stress urinary incontinence in men and women, recurrent and chronic urinary tract infections, bladder pain conditions, and neurological diseases affecting the urinary tract. He is one of the few surgeons in the UK pioneering the use of minimally invasive robotic surgery for urinary incontinence and bladder dysfunction. He is also one of a only a few surgeons in the UK with considerable experience in the entire range of surgical treatments for prostate enlargement (iTind, Urolift, Rezum, TURP, Aquablation, and laser surgery).
He holds an NHS post at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London, UK, where he is the lead for functional and reconstructive urological surgery. He trained on the prestigious South Thames London training programme, with fellowship training at University College London Hospital. His research into post-prostatectomy incontinence led to a Master of Science degree for which he was awarded the Geoffrey Chisholm Gold Medal.
He is passionate about teaching and training. He is the Undergraduate Urology lead for King’s College London Medical School, and regularly serves as an invited speaker for several international conferences. He is responsible for training other surgeons on the specialist surgical procedures that he uses to treat prostate enlargement and urinary incontinence, in his role as tutor on courses delivered by the Royal College of Surgeons, British Association of Urological Surgeons, and European Association of Urology.
He has a strong research interest. He has served as the principal investigator in several large UK surgical trials, and has published extensively in his sub-specialty areas, including several book chapters and over 100 Pubmed-indexed peer-reviewed publications. He is a Guidelines Committee Member for the European Association of Urology guidelines on male lower urinary tract symptoms and serves on the editorial board of the journals BJUI Compass and Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases.
