Ward Manager named as Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) Academy Fellow

Tonya Kloppers, Chief Nurse said, “I believe Prudencia embodies the qualities of a rising star in the nursing profession and is an outstanding candidate for this fellowship. From the moment I met Prudencia, she has consistently demonstrated professionalism, inclusivity, and progressiveness.

During her interview for the fellowship, Prudencia clearly articulated how she would leverage her leadership experiences and the network opportunities provided by the fellowship to strengthen the nursing voice and improve patient care outcomes. She emphasized the importance of networking and learning from others as key drivers for her development and the advancement of the nursing profession.”

We would also like to recognise that we had four other internal nominations, Noumba Peti, Jigger Torres, Rex Dalten and Joao Da Costa. All these excellent candidates are shining examples of the skill and diversity of our nursing professionals here at the Clinic.

Prudencia said the following about her selection:  

“I am thankful and excited to be selected. I have role models who have played a significant part in my growth as a leader and this opportunity will continue to enhance my development further.

Being chosen for the FNF Academy Fellow means I get to challenge who I am as a leader and grow in ways I would like to, e.g. networking, as this will foster good working relationships and greater insight into patient care and service delivery, and in ways I did not anticipate (which will be the best part).

For me it means:

• My desire to improve as a leader and my passion for patient care and quality has been recognised through teamwork and patient outcomes.
• Our senior management recognises the potential of my peers and myself and are investing in our growth and development toward the clinic’s common goal of maximising patient outcomes as a centre of excellence through strong nurse leadership.
• Joining forces with a Fellowship of likeminded leaders/fellows to create symbiotic relationships that produce growth and contribute to shaping patient care.
• I have been given an opportunity to reflect and impart what I have gained.”

Being a part of a wider nursing community means we can listen as one, do more as one, accomplish more as one and bring about change and a greater impact as one.  We have the potential to redefine patient care.
