Prof Nima Heidari

Professor Heidari is an expert orthopaedic and trauma surgeon who specialises in treating foot and ankle conditions including trauma, sports injuries and lower limb reconstruction. Vastly experienced, he is a renowned teacher and much published author in his field. He is a consultant at The Royal London Hospital, the largest trauma centre in the UK and one the busiest in Europe.

Prof Heidari is an expert orthopaedic and trauma surgeon who specialises in treating foot and ankle conditions including trauma, sports injuries and lower limb reconstruction. With extensive levels of experience, he is a renowned teacher and much published author in his field. His teaching posts include Chairman of the Masters Foot and Ankle Course - AO Davos, Chairman of the Advanced Foot Course - AO UK and Professor at the George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology.
Best known for his work in the fields of bone infection and limb reconstruction, Prof Heidari has particular expertise in dealing with failure of bone fixation or infection following fracture or other causes. As a consultant at The Royal London Hospital from 2012 to 2023, he played a key role in establishing a regional Foot and Ankle Unit, a Bone Infection Unit, and an Orthoplastics Department.
In his private practice Prof Heidari provides a tertiary referral service for difficult fractures and fixation and post-operative infection. He understands the significant impact foot and ankle pain or injury can have on a person's quality of life and is committed to providing the most effective treatment—whether surgical or non-surgical—to ensure the best possible outcome for his patients.

In 1998, Professor Heidari qualified from St George’s Hospital before undertaking his orthopaedic and trauma training at The Royal London Hospital and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2009. After finishing his training in 2011, he worked at the Bristol Limb Reconstruction Unit, gaining expertise in the management of foot and ankle pathology, complex trauma and lower limb reconstruction. Professor Heidari has travelled widely in the interests of furthering his knowledge and has amassed fellowship experience in trauma and foot and ankle surgery from many centres of excellence in Europe, Canada and the USA, including: Hospital for Special Surgery (New York), Rothman Institute (Philadelphia), Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre (California), University of Utah Orthopaedic Centre (Salt Lake City) Medical University of Graz (Austria), University Hospital of Lille (France). In 2012, following his Travelling Fellowship in the USA and Canada, he became a Fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.
