Ms Aimee Di Marco Consultant Profile
Miss Di Marco qualified from the University of Cambridge and Guy’s, King’s & St. Thomas’ School of medicine with Distinction in 2004. She undertook house jobs and basic surgical training in London before being awarded a coveted ‘run-through’ training post in General Surgery and subsequently one of the UK’s first Academic Clinical Fellow posts at Imperial. This allowed her to combine research with clinical training during her Higher Surgical Training in North West London and lead to a PhD in surgical technology at Imperial, looking at the development of a device for luminal surgery.
She undertook specialist training in Endocrine Surgery at Chelsea & Westminster, the Hammersmith and as the T.S. Reeve Fellow at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, Australia. She was awarded the ASGBI Gold.
Miss. Di Marco took up her post as Consultant Endocrine Surgeon at the Hammersmith in 2019 where she manages endocrine surgical diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal exclusively.
She is the Lead for Anatomy and Specialist Surgery teaching in the senior years at the Imperial College School of Medicine. She teaches and supervises undergraduates, BSc students on the endocrinology & surgical design BSc and postgraduates. She has an active research interest, focusing particularly on surgical technology including fluorescence in thyroid & parathyroid surgery and the impact of endocrine surgical pathologies in women of reproductive age and has numerous publications.
Miss Di Marco is a core member of the Imperial & NW London Thyroid Cancer MDT and Adrenal MDT, an active member of the British Association of Endocrine & Thyroid Surgeons, and submits all clinical outcomes to the UK Registry of Endocrine & Thyroid Surgery.
