Bio

I am a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial, Head and Neck Surgeon. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England as well as holding a qualification in Dental Surgery and being a Fellow of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons.

I am in a special position of being able to provide expertise in diagnosis and management of a full range of diseases of the mouth, jaw, face and neck.

I am one of the only UK surgeons to offer temporomandibular joint (TMJ) replacement and arthroscopic TMJ surgery and I carry out the majority of the TMJ replacement operations performed in the South of England. I was the first surgeon in the UK to perform a jawbone replacement using a 3D-printed mandible incorporating a titanium frame.

I have also pioneered new techniques on free flap jaw reconstruction for cancer patients. This is a micro-surgical technique which enables large trauma sites in the face and jaw to be repaired.

I am a regular contributor to academic publications and the author of the Oxford Handbook of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, the leading reference text for junior oral maxillofacial trainees around the world, and co-author of Principles of Surgery: Everything you need to know but were frightened to ask!

I led registrar training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust until mid-2019, where I remain an honorary consultant. I am currently the head of the head and neck cancer multidisciplinary team for HCA Healthcare at Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Trust.
