Mr Haris Charalampos Markakis
Mr Markakis is a consultant general, upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon specialising in metabolic and bariatric (weight loss) surgery, including complex revisional surgery, hiatus/paraoesophageal hernia repair and anti-reflux surgery, gallbladder surgery and abdominal wall hernia surgery. He has particular expertise in minimally invasive ("keyhole") surgery.
Bio
Mr Markakis is a Consultant General and Bariatric Surgeon at University College Hospital in London. His training includes two Royal College of Surgeons accredited fellowships in bariatric surgery and he has significant experience performing gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y and one anastomosis ("mini") gastric bypass, single anastomosis duodenoileostomy (SADI) procedures and revisional bariatric surgery for weight regain and complications.
He has a special interest and a master's degree in minimally invasive techniques including robotic surgery and is an expert in laparoscopic repair of all abdominal wall hernias including abdominal wall reconstruction. He also performs anti-reflux/hiatus hernia surgery which was the focus of his PhD, gallbladder surgery and endoscopy.
