Mr Guy Worley consultant profile
Guy Worley is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at The London Clinic. He has a busy NHS practice at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, and previously worked as a fellow at St Mark’s Hospital where they created a locum consultant surgeon position for him. He has a subspeciality interest in complex Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Proctology (management of the various conditions affecting the anus and perineum, including complex perianal fistula), Intestinal Failure, Abdominal Wall Reconstruction and minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He regularly uses FilaC (laser) and VAAFT minimally invasive options for anal fistulae.
Mr Worley holds the position of Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at The Blizard Institute, QMUL. His PhD research focused on the surgical management of ulcerative colitis including ileoanal pouch surgery and complications, for which he was awarded the John Nicholls Prize in 2018, and he continues to be involved in research related to Crohn’s and colitis, including contributing to the TOpCLASS Consortium regarding perianal Crohn’s disease. He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for Colorectal Disease and sits on the ACPGBI Education and Training Committee. He is a Ex-Trainee representative to the ACPGBI IBD Subcommittee and Dukes Club IBD Rep. He is also a reviewer and advisor to Crohn’s and Colitis UK.
Mr Worley holds roles regarding education, patient safety and governance within his NHS work, with an emphasis on safe surgical care and enhanced post-operative recovery. He works very closely with many associated speciality doctors including Gastroenterologists, Endoscopists, GI Surgeons and Dieticians, Nurse Specialists and Anaesthetists to offer high quality care to all patients.
