Dr Radu Rusu Consultant Profile
Dr Radu Rusu is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at The London Clinic and leads the Advanced Oesophageal Diagnostic and Therapy Service, established in collaboration with Northwestern Medicine, internationally recognised for the development of FLIP panometry and the Chicago Classification. Under his leadership, this consultant-led service brings together the full range of specialist oesophageal physiology testing and minimally invasive therapeutic procedures within a single, seamless pathway, so that clinically appropriate patients can receive a comprehensive assessment and definitive diagnosis within 24 hours, with reflux testing available within one week.
Dr Rusu completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology in London and the KSS rotation. During that time, he developed advanced sub-speciality skills in oesophageal physiology and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. Dr Rusu published landmark research on wireless pH monitoring (Bravo), which appeared in leading peer-reviewed journals and was incorporated into his MD(Res) thesis at King’s College London. He pioneered the use of FLIP panometry as a diagnostic tool in upper GI physiology in the UK.
He promotes a novel, multimodal approach to the assessment and treatment of oesophageal disorders, with emphasis on multidisciplinary input for complex cases. He also leads the GI Physiology service at the Royal Free Hospital.
