Dr Greg Shields Consultant Profile
Dr Shields is a consultant general adult and liaison psychiatrist with a practice focusing on oncology, palliative care, and the mental health of people with serious or life-threatening illness. He is currently the lead psychiatrist at the King’s College Hospital Cancer Psychological Care Team.He trained at South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Foundation Trust in general adult and liaison neuropsychiatry and led the Leukaemia UK Mind and Body Programme at King’s College Hospital. He was previously the clinical lead for inpatient services at the National Psychosis Unit (SLaM). He is also a senior manager at Maudsley Learning, where he oversees mental health education and training delivered across the UK and internationally. Dr Shields is the founding member of the London Managing Cancer and Living Meaningfully (CALM) supervision group and is training to become a CALM therapist. He has previously practiced psychodynamic therapy and Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) and brings a holistic understanding and collaborative approach to his work with patients and their families.Dr Shields offers assessment and treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis and unusual experiences, personality disorder, bipolar disorder, memory disorders, and neuropsychiatric conditions.Dr Shields provides comprehensive assessment and treatment of adult ADHD, as well as assessment and treatment of insomnia including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi).
