Dr Abhinav (Abs) Gupta is a Consultant Gastroenterologist & Interventional Endoscopist at the London Clinic with a specialist interest in complex gastrointestinal problems, cancer diagnosis/ treatment and advanced endoscopy, including ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound and polypectomy.

He completed his undergraduate training from University College London Medical School with double distinction. His specialist training was in the London Deanery, including posts at University College Hospital and Royal London Hospital. During this time, he conducted research on stomach disorders and the treatment of early gastrointestinal cancer. Dr Gupta subsequently completed a prestigious International Advanced Endoscopy fellowship in Sydney, Australia, gaining skills in therapeutic endoscopy including advanced colonoscopy, luminal/ bile duct stenting, enteroscopy, polypectomy, ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound.

Dr Gupta has over 15 years’ experience in Gastroenterology and General medicine. He is a nationally accredited Endoscopist and the Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (JAG) Regional Training Centre Lead.

He is passionate about delivering excellent patient care based on current guidelines and best medical practice. Dr Gupta sees a wide range of patients with acid reflux, diarrhoea, constipation, irritable bowel, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), abdominal pain, bloating, indigestion (dyspepsia), stomach problems, Barrett’s oesophagus, cancer prevention/ treatment, liver disease, gallbladder/ pancreas problems, coeliac disease and swallowing disorders.

Dr Gupta enjoys teaching and training within Gastroenterology – he is clinical director for education and training at his hospital trust and acts as faculty on national teaching courses. His current roles include Associate College Tutor for the Royal College of Physicians London and NE London Endoscopy Academy Lead.

He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed gastroenterology journals and regularly present his work at international conferences.
