Professor Peter Szlosarek Consultant Profile
Peter Szlosarek is a Professor of Medical Oncology at The London Clinic, Barts Cancer Center and Institute, London, specialising in the treatment of patients with lung cancers and skin cancers/melanoma.
He studied Medicine and Pharmacology at King’s College and completed a PhD in cancer biology at the University of London in 2004. His interests include mesothelioma and uveal melanoma with a particular emphasis on metabolic and immunotherapeutic approaches.
Professor Szlosarek has pioneered the preclinical and clinical development of arginine starvation in cancer focusing on mesothelioma, culminating in the global phase 3 ATOMIC-meso study, a registration study of ADI-PEG20 (pegargiminase, ADZODI) combined with standard of care chemotherapy for pleural mesothelioma.
He has received two prestigious clinical research fellowships from Cancer Research UK and served two terms as Chair of the UK NCRI Mesothelioma Subgroup (2015-2022). He lectures nationally and internationally and has published extensively on arginine-dependent cancers over the last 25 years.
