Mr David Gordon

With David’s research team, he regularly presents his work on the international stage and is active in research publications.• In 2021 he published what was the largest series of minimally invasive bunion surgery outcomes in the world in 2021, in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery• In 2024, his mid-term series (6.7 yr) was presented at the annual American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society conference. This is the longest and largest follow up of MIBS outcomes in the world and won the International Federation of Foot and Ankle Society Award for Excellence.David has a strong innovation background, particularly in medical devices and holds a patent for an orthopaedic implant. He was on the surgeon design team for the Paragon28 Precision Guide, used for minimally invasive hallux valgus surgery and continues to design techniques and instrumentation for foot and ankle surgery.

In recognition for his work at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Mr Gordon was awarded one of the highest accolades in British Orthopaedics, the prestigious Robert Jones Gold Medal and British Orthopaedic Association Prize.

During his 2 years at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, UK, David helped develop the revolutionary amputation prosthesis (ITAP). For this work, he was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine degree from University College London (UCL) and the Robert Jones Gold Medal from the British Orthopaedic Association. He previously held an Honorary Senior Lecturer position at UCL.He spent a year in Sydney, Australia, undertaking fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery with John Negrine and David Lunz and knee surgery with Leo Pinczewski. On his return, he completed a Trauma Fellowship at the Royal London Hospital with Peter Bates and Paul Culpan, before commencing his post as consultant orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital in 2012.
