Professional profile
Paul qualified in Medicine from the University of Manchester in 1996 having previously completed a BSc from the University of St Andrews. His post graduate basic surgical training was undertaken through Bart's and the Royal London surgical rotations. Following this he entered higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the North East Thames region on the University College London rotation. This training involved working as a Specialist Registrar at several of the regions university teaching hospitals including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, the Middlesex and University College Hospital London, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Bart's and the Royal London Hospitals where he worked for many renowned experts in their field.
He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Tr & Orth) in 2005 and completed his higher surgical training in 2007. He spent one year fellowship with Professor Judet at his famous orthopaedic unit in Garches. Following this he spent two and a half years working as a consultant in the largest public hospital in Abu Dhabi before returning to London in 2010 to join Bart's and the Royal London Hospital in 2010.
Personal profile
Paul is married and has a young daughter. He returned to London in 2010 having spent nearly 4 years experiencing work and life abroad. This entailed more than one year of working and living in Paris and two and a half years in Abu Dhabi. He enjoys travelling and has explored much of the Middle East and North Africa. He has an interest in contemporary art (guided by his wife!), enjoys watching and playing sports and is an enthusiastic skier.
