Professor John Gribben graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1980. He subsequently trained in Haematology at University College London and in Medical Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, where he remained on the faculty for 17 years before returning to the UK. He specialises in haematological cancers including lymphomas, leukaemias and bone marrow transplantation.

He has sat on and chaired numerous international executive committees dedicated to investigating new approaches to cancer care, and several of the editorial boards for professional publications which are focused on cancer. He has lectured across the world on new therapies for cancer treatment.
