Mr Gerald Gui
Mr Gerald Gui is a specialist oncoplastic breast and reconstructive surgeon. His specific interest is in the early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, surgery to preserve breast form and symmetry after a diagnosis of cancer, surgery after primary chemotherapy, immediate breast reconstruction and the management of women that carry a high-risk breast cancer predisposition gene.
Bio
Mr Gerald Gui was appointed Consultant Surgeon to the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in 1996 as a specialist breast oncoplastic surgeon. He graduated from University College, University of London in 1986 with and trained in general, surgical oncology and breast oncoplastic surgery based at St Bartholomew’s and St George’s Hospitals. In 1994, he won the Surgeon in training Medal of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (1991) and Edinburgh (1990) and was Travelling Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Inc, New York in breast reconstructive surgery at Emory University, Atlanta, USA (1996).
He was awarded the Master of Surgery degree from the University of London (1996) and is a Teacher and Examiner for the University of London. Mr Gui is also Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Cancer Research, London. He is on the teaching faculty of post-graduate surgery courses for advanced breast trainees including the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He runs industry sponsored Masterclasses in breast reconstruction at the Royal Marsden Hospital that are attended by consultant surgeons from the UK, across Europe and the Middle East.

Mr Gui’s research profile spans the tumour biology of breast cancer metastases, improving breast cancer diagnostics, surgery and adjuvant treatment of breast cancer, sentinel node biopsy, neoadjuvant systemic therapy, duct endoscopy and risk-management of patients with breast cancer.
He lectures widely at home and abroad. Mr Gui has over 100 peer reviewed published manuscripts, is co-editor of the textbook Early Breast Cancer, contributed chapters to ten textbooks including the Fortieth Edition of Gray’s Anatomy.
