Bio

Lorraine has over thirty years’ clinical experience within the NHS and private sector. She trained as a nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London in 1984 and in 2003 qualified as a Psychosexual (Sex) Therapist.

As an NHS Research Sister she was involved in the early clinical trials of sildenafil citrate (Viagra). Lorraine recognised how giving patients the opportunity to discuss their sexual difficulties could significantly improve their wellbeing.

She developed her own nurse-led Erectile Dysfunction clinics at St George’s Hospital, London. As causes for erectile difficulties can be both psychological and organic she considers both aspects of management.

She has received several national awards (both individual and team-based) for her contributions to the effective management of sexual function.

Lorraine is a Trustee of the Sexual Advice Association and involved as an advisor and lecturer for Prostate Cancer UK. She regularly contributes to the Macmillan Online Community ‘Ask an Expert’ forum. She is a member of the British and International Societies of Sexual Medicine and College of Sex and Relationship Therapists.

Lorraine is the expert for the 'Ask about sex' online discussion at Macmillan Cancer Support.

In her personal time, Lorraine enjoys travel, theatre in particular musicals and spending time with her family.

She also enjoys being a trustee of the Sexual Advice Association (SAA). The SAA keeps her busy helping to spread the word that there is help available to support patients and clinicians regarding sexual difficulties.
