Professional profile

Dr Kallis is a consultant at the Royal London and Royal Free hospitals where his clinical work covers a broad range of liver and pancreato-biliary diseases. A specific focus of his work is liver transplantation, in particular from living related donors, and he runs an outreach liver transplant network across NE London. He has expertise in complex ERCP and has helped develop novel endoscopic treatments for pancreato-biliary cancers.

He holds an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer position at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, and is a principal investigator on multi-centre clinical trials in treatments for advanced liver disease. His research has previously focused on the role of stem cells in liver fibrosis and regeneration, and on the interaction between blood clotting abnormalities and liver disease. He publishes and lectures widely, and sits on the writing group of the national guidelines on the use of blood products.

Personal profile

Dr Kallis enjoys cycling, football, chess and spending time with his young family.
