The London Clinic Research Centre
The London Clinic Research Centre (CRC) is the dedicated research department at The London Clinic, responsible for the management and conduct of clinical trials and other forms of research within the hospital.
Our aim is to provide innovative treatment choices to our patients and enable access to novel therapies that may not be available elsewhere.
The department was launched in 2011 and has grown year on year. In the last two years the CRC has successfully enrolled over 200 patients onto a range of trials covering a range of therapeutic areas:
- Oncology
- Orthopaedics
- Gastroenterology.
The department - headed by Professor Hemant Kocher - also provides oversight for the provision of services for clinical trials. It has successfully provided a number of services for a range of leading clinical research organisations.

Hemant Kocher - Clinical Research Lead

Hemant is an internationally renowned surgeon-scientist with nearly 30 years of experience in clinical care and biomedical research. He has led the development of research focusing on the cellular biology of pancreatic cancer, clinical trials and tissue banking at national and international level.
He is chair and member of a number of national and international panels focusing on healthcare delivery, biomedical research, clinical trials, patient care and participation. He has a strong governance role in the NHS and universities within the UK. He will provide clinical leadership to research at The London Clinic.
Christine Topham - Clinical Trial Manager

Christine provides operational oversight of The London Clinic Research Centre. This includes the management and support of all research studies and personnel involved in sponsored and hosted trials from feasibility through to completion, ensuring all research is delivered on time, to a high quality, according to agreed protocols and in accordance with appropriate clinical trial regulations, SOPs and policies.
Christine is a Registered Nurse (RN) with 20 years clinical research experience, in a wide range of therapeutic areas and development phases. This includes first-hand experience of first in man, safety and tolerability and bioavailability studies as well as medical devices. Christine also has experience in clinical trial project management and monitoring.
Trishna Champaneri - Clinical Trial Coordinator and Research Governance Officer

Trishna leads and co-ordinates the delivery of high quality research sponsored by commercial companies and other agencies. She has recently been appointed as the Clinic’s Research Governance Officer, ensuring studies are conducted in a safe environment.
Trishna has Clinical Trials experience since 2007 in various positions; assisting and managing Clinical Pharmacology Studies in accordance with agreed protocols and the principles of International Conference on Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP). Her therapeutic experience varies from working on oncology, dermatology and medical device studies, which has allowed her to network well with premium clients.
Along with a proven track record for delivering projects, Trishna has outstanding communication skills in various environments which has led her to be the first member of the team to receive the Clinic’s Value Award for being 'Most Pioneering'.
Rachael Mullen - Quality and Development Superintendent

Rachael Mullen is the Quality and Development Superintendent for both The London Clinic Research Centre and Radiotherapy. She has extensive experience as a Therapy Radiographer clinically, within research and in quality management – both in the NHS and private healthcare. Rachael has a passion for change management and a strong interest in oncology research.
