Point-of-care testing at The London Clinic

The clinic’s point-of-care testing (POCT) service is managed by the multidisciplinary team that forms the clinic-wide POCT committee, with day-to-day support and management by the POCT coordinator, who is based within Pathology.

The scope of POCT service provision includes advice on the appropriateness of POCT, device procurement, device evaluation and verification, overseeing of device maintenance, quality assurance, staff training and competencies, auditing and overall implementation of the POCT quality management system.

The main role of the POCT Coordinator is to ensure good governance which is achieved through the provision of training to staff and monitoring of indicators such as internal quality control and external quality assurance performance.
