With Wimbledon underway, the Physiotherapy team at The London Clinic have some advice for new and current tennis players.

Two-thirds of tennis injuries are from overuse and a third of injuries are due to acute/traumatic events, all of which can be sustained during training or games. 

Our Physio team provide five common risk factors causing injuries to happen:

  1. Incorrect footwear and/or racquet
  2. No warm-up and cool-down
  3. Incorrect technique
  4. Time spent playing
  5. Previous injury

Looking at injuries themselves, the team have specific advice on how to avoid these common complaints:

  • Tennis elbow
  • Shoulder pain
  • Spinal stress fractures
