Footballers in the tackle

With the Champions League final taking place this weekend and the World Cup around the corner, our senior physiotherapists, Danny and Federico, provide advice on how to minimise your risk of injury and get the most out of football this summer.

From children having a kick about with their grandparents, to Sunday leaguers and professional footballers; football is probably the world’s most popular sport, with millions of people playing it every day.

Like many sports, football can still cause injury, with an overall 30 per cent of all players sustaining an injury at some point. They have to twist, turn and jump at speed, and can land awkwardly which may result in short term or long term injury.

Danny and Federico's advice covers:

  1. Warming up
  2. Hamstring strains
  3. Ankle strains
  4. ACL ruptures

We also have a few words of advice from consultant orthopaedic surgeon, Professor Ali Ghoz, together with links to how the physiotherapy equipment available at The London Clinic can help your recovery.
