Mike Bussey brings extensive experience chairing boards of major organisations, including Deutsche Bank UK and Credit Suisse UK. He has also been closely involved, in his previous capacity as a Trustee, in the development of our recently announced collaboration with Northwestern Medicine.
His appointment as Chair coincides with the news that Hamish Leslie Melville has stepped down from his eight-year position as Chairman of The London Clinic which was preceded by a period of six years as a Trustee.
Speaking of the outgoing Chair, CEO Al Russell said, “Hamish leaves a legacy at The London Clinic, not only of excellent standards of care, but he has also set us up for success in the years to come. As a CEO who worked alongside Hamish as Chair for seven years, I am hugely grateful for his support, leadership and guidance throughout.”
Hamish Leslie Melville said, “It has been a privilege to be a Trustee of The London Clinic for fourteen years, and Chair for eight years. As I step down, it is a source of great satisfaction to me to know that The London Clinic is in an excellent position to maximise its charitable purpose, both in its ground-breaking collaboration with Northwestern Medicine and under the leadership of its new Chair, Mike Bussey. I wish The London Clinic all the best.”
In November, The London Clinic, the UK’s largest independent charitable hospital, and Northwestern Medicine, a leading U.S. based academic healthcare organisation, announced a ground-breaking international collaboration. The two non-profit organisations signed a wide-ranging agreement, that for The London Clinic will help accelerate infrastructure improvements and growth ambitions in the years ahead.
