Consultant Oral, Maxillofacial and Head and Neck Surgeon Mr Mustansir Alibhai is a highly professional and compassionate consultant whose excellent communication skills are matched by his clinical expertise. Dually qualified, having obtained distinctions in medicine and clinical sciences at King’s College London and dentistry at the University of Liverpool, he is currently based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust, having held similar roles at University College London Hospitals and Bart’s Health NHS trusts.

A specialist in head and neck oncology, his areas of interest include: jaw tumours and reconstruction; cancers of the face, mouth, jaws and neck; microsurgical facial reconstruction; benign oral lesions; salivary gland tumours and stones; facial trauma; temporomandibular joint pain, and oral and dentoalveolar surgery including wisdom teeth removal.

Having completed his higher surgical training in London, he succeeded in gaining a place on a post-CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) fellowship in head and neck cancer surgery at the prestigious East Grinstead unit, the Queen Victoria Hospital.

In 2016, he joined Great Ormond Street Hospital as a locum consultant before taking similar posts at University College London Hospitals and Bart’s Health NHS trusts. In 2017 he became substantive consultant at the University College London Hospitals Trust, taking on the role of head and neck surgery associate clinical lead. In 2020, he joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust.

Mr Alibhai’s combination of empathy and expertise make him a natural educator and he is involved in the teaching of higher surgical trainees in oral and maxillofacial surgery as assigned educational supervisor and clinical supervisor.  In 2019, he was the recipient of a patient-nominated award, an accolade which illustrates his complete commitment to delivering outstanding patient care and treating every patient as an individual.
