Bio

Dr Bhashkar Mukherjee is a Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General (Internal) Medicine. His specialist interests include the investigation and management of complex breathing disorders which often involve both respiratory and cardiovascular systems. His other areas of expertise include Sleep Ventilation disorders, Pleural Diseases and airways diseases including Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease, Interstitial Lung Disease, Pulmonary Hypertension, Sleep Ventilation Medicine and Tuberculosis.

Dr Mukherjee performs a range of bronchoscopic and pleural procedures including advanced diagnostic techniques including Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET), Fibre-optic Flexible Bronchoscopy, Interventional Bronchoscopy and non-invasive Ventilation.

He has extensive experience in the management of critically unwell patients as well as patients with common medical and respiratory conditions and those with chronic disease. Dr Mukherjee’s current clinical and research interests encompass exercise physiology, Pulmonary Hypertension and Interstitial Lung Disease.

Dr Mukherjee completed medical and postgraduate studies at Cambridge University where he achieved his PHD in Functional Neuroimaging as part of the prestigious MB/PhD programme. Dr Mukherjee completed higher specialist medical and respiratory training at leading London centres for thoracic medicine including Royal Brompton Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital and King’s College Hospital.
