He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and was admitted onto the GMC’s specialist register for Plastic surgery in 2018. His specialist interests include all aspects of breast reconstruction after mastectomy, complex cancer reconstruction and microsurgery for lymphoedema (including lymphaticovenous anastomosis and vascularised lymph node transfer). He performs over 200 reconstructive procedures and over 60 complex, microsurgical procedures a year for reconstruction after cancer surgery.

Mr Khan maintains a strong academic practice that centres around implantable medical devices and breast implant capsule biology (including capsular contracture and breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL)) and the clinical evaluation of surgery for lymphoedema. He is the chief investigator of the BASILICA breast implant capsule biobanking study and holds leadership roles in clinical trials evaluating microsurgical interventions in lymphoedema.
