The London Clinic
I am a consultant clinical oncologist with a specialist practice in neuro-oncology. I specialise in the treatment of adults with primary and secondary (metastatic) brain tumours. This includes patients with low and high-grade gliomas, glioblastoma, ependymoma as well as metastatic brain tumours. I deliver chemotherapy, radiotherapy and stereotactic radiotherapy (SRS).

Professional profile

Dr Matthew Williams completed his undergraduate studies in Birmingham, before moving to London where he worked as a senior house officer at Hammersmith Hospital. He then ran an A&E; department in the Gambia for a year, in the capital's main hospital.

Upon returning to the UK, he completed his clinical oncology training in London, followed by a PhD with the Advanced Computation Lab at CRUK/UCL. He was appointed as a consultant and honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College Healtcare NHS Trust in February 2012.

Launch of landmark clinical trial for brain cancer treatment
The London Clinic
The London Clinic is the first and only UK hospital to participate in a landmark international phase 3 clinical trial of a treatment called intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) for glioblastoma multiforme, a brain cancer with a high mortality rate.
