Professional profile

James Wilson is a consultant clinical oncologist at UCLH and Honorary Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at UCL.

His PhD from the University of Oxford focused on how cancer imaging can be used to personalise chemotherapy and radiotherapy strategies for patients and how new drugs can be combined with radiotherapy to improve treatment outcomes. His work has been published and presented at international meetings.

After completing his research in Oxford, James finished his training at the Royal Marsden Hospital. He maintained his research interests as a NIHR academic clinical lecturer at The Institute of Cancer Research before taking up a consultant post at Guy's and St Thomas'. He later moved to UCLH to focus on thoracic oncology.

He specialises in the treatment of gynaecological (cervical, uterine, vaginal and vulval) and lung cancers with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy and brachytherapy. He uses stereotactic radiotherapy to treat lung cancers and recurrent and oligometastatic disease.
