Bio

Dr Deepak Rao is a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine. His specialist interests include Pleural diseases and intervention including research, Lung Cancer and Sleep and Ventilation (Acute and domiciliary non-invasive ventilation). Dr Deepak Rao is the Clinical Lead for Respiratory Medicine and lead for Pleural Diseases and Intervention at Princess Royal University Hospital, Kings Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He also heads an Acute Respiratory Failure (ARF) unit and is involved in delivering lung cancer and chronic respiratory failure services including non-invasive ventilation.

Dr Rao is committed to quality improvement and maintains an active involvement in clinical audit, risk management and service development. He has instigated patient pathway improvement projects and designed an electronic database to facilitate performance assessment and further refine the service in future. His maintains an active interest in pleural research.

Dr Rao teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and is Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer with King’s College Hospital, London. He has been involved in both the organisation and delivery of structured teaching programmes, Practise PACES, OSCEs as well as Firm head for Year 3 medical students.
