Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
The Lung Health Check is a fixed-price service at £1,395.
No, this service is only available as a self-pay option.
If your consultant determines that a CT scan isn’t necessary, the cost of the scan will be refunded to you.
A CT (computed tomography) scan uses X-rays to create detailed images of the inside of your body. The scanner is a doughnut-shaped ring, and you’ll lie on a table that moves through the ring to capture images. CT scans are excellent for showing soft tissue, air, fluid, bone, and blood vessels, making them ideal for detecting lung abnormalities.
- You’ll lie on a table that moves through the CT scanner.
- The scan is painless and usually takes around 15 minutes, though you should allow 30-45 minutes for preparation and aftercare.
- You may be asked to hold your breath briefly during the scan to ensure clear images.
Your CT scan will be reviewed by a specialist radiologist, and the results will be discussed with you during your follow-up consultation. Most patients receive their results the same day. You can also request a copy of your images from the radiology team.
If your results indicate a potential issue, your consultant will discuss the next steps with you, which may include further tests, treatment options, or referrals to other specialists within The London Clinic.
