Vestibular rehabilitation is a form of therapy for people with vestibular system dysfunction. It can lead to dizziness, vertigo, balance problems, visual difficulties, hearing problems and reduced mobility.

This treatment is provided by The London Clinic's physiotherapy team.

The types of conditions treated include:

  • Vestibular neuritis
  • Labyrinthitis
  • Head injuries
  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV).

Specialist assessment and treatment of these disorders is carried out by a physiotherapist. An initial assessment will take between an hour and an hour and half and will normally involve trying to aggravate any feelings of dizziness and/or vertigo.

This is done through head and body movements. It can be necessary to rest for a while after assessment to allow any symptoms to settle.

Treatment

Treatment will involve:

  • Visual exercises
  • Canalith repositioning techniques
  • Balance re-training
  • Lifestyle changes.

Some treatments have an immediate effect whereas others may take several weeks to become established.

Treatment cost

The London Clinic offers affordable, competitive self-pay packages for certain treatments.

Patients have the option to spread the cost of treatment with Chrysalis Finance.
