The London Clinic dialysis unit has a ratio of one nurse to two patients, and a wide range of consultants on call. We will do our best to accommodate patients based on their chosen date and preferred times, making the unit favourable to holiday makers, business and transient patients, as well as to our regular outpatients and inpatients. We can accommodate overseas visitors wishing to have dialysis while in London.
Should you require peritoneal dialysis here at The London Clinic, our multidisciplinary team can provide the preferred peritoneal dialysis service, whether you have CAPD or APD. We use the Baxter HomeChoice® machine for patients who need APD.
The symptoms of kidney failure are varied and can occur with a number of other conditions, so a blood or urine test is needed to confirm a diagnosis. In the case of acute kidney injury, the treatment is usually to remove or correct the cause. This can involve: removal of any blockage, such as kidney stones or blood clots, intravenous fluids (injection of fluids into your bloodstream) to correct dehydration, treatment of any infection or inflammation and treatment of underlying illness or injury.
If your urologist believes that the stone is too big to pass unaided or is causing an obstruction, you may need surgery to remove it. This may include: tunnel surgery or percutaneous nephrolithotomy, and ureterorenoscopy.
Please note that The London Clinic no longer offers this surgery.
In this procedure, your consultant will use keyhole surgery to examine the workings of your knee. An All-Inclusive Package for this treatment is available at £3,100.
Depending on how bad the damage is to your knee joint, one of our consultant orthopaedic specialists may advise that you have part or all of it replaced. Replacing your entire knee joint is called a total knee replacement and is the more common of the two options. An All-Inclusive Package for this treatment is available from £14,675.
The NAVIO® surgical system is an innovative approach to all forms of knee replacement surgery. The London Clinic is one of the only hospitals in the UK to offer this surgical system which uses robotic technology to offer support to complement the skill of our orthopaedic surgeons.
