Dermatology

What is it for?

Remove the visible effects of ageing, to give a fresher, younger appearance

Treatment overview

Cosmetic dermatology encompasses:

  • Removal of wrinkled or blemished skin layers.
  • Plumping or filling beneath existing skin.
  • Relaxing the muscles below the skin to lessen the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Laser and chemical peel treatments

Wrinkled and blemished skin layers can be removed using either laser treatment or chemical peels.

Laser treatment removes the outer layers of the skin precisely, while stimulating the lower layers to produce new skin cells.

Chemical peels achieve much the same results by applying precise amounts of chemicals, such as trichloroacetic acid, to peel away the upper skin layers.

The depth of both chemical peels and laser treatments can be adapted to suit the skin condition being treated, with light peels and treatments for fine lines and wrinkles, and deeper treatments for sun-damaged skin, scars and pigmentation blemishes.

Fillers

Dermal (skin) and subcutaneous (under the skin) fillers can take the form of collagen, hyaluronic acid or hyaluronic acid substitutes.

Injections of dermal fillers restore the structure of the skin, filling it out to smooth wrinkles and lines.

Botulinum toxin

Botulinum toxin, commonly known by the brand name Botox®, is a cosmetic dermatology procedure used to relax the muscles beneath the skin to ease the look of lines and wrinkles.

Skilfully applied, Botox® can produce a natural, youthful appearance, with smoother, firmer skin.

Lasers

Wrinkles and deeper lines on the skin are often caused by the degeneration of collagen, elastin and subcutaneous fats.

Laser treatment can help replace these by clearing away unwanted wrinkles or stimulating the production of new collagen.
