This pioneering new technique allows the nerves to be preserved during robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP), resulting in preservation of erectile function and improved continence post-surgery.
Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy is one of the most effective keyhole surgery techniques available to patients with intermediate, or aggressive prostate cancer. Using a robot increases precision and control, by allowing the surgeon unparalleled vision into the abdomen.
ClinicSafe is a new technique which takes place during surgery. It works by freezing the nerves surrounding the prostate, to improve the accuracy of detecting exactly where the cancer is. This ensures that (cancer-free) nerves which control the erectile function can be saved, instead of being removed along with the prostate.
