The London Clinic radiotherapy department uses the world’s most up-to-date technology to provide the most advanced treatments possible for our patients.

Clinical Radiotherapy staff use two Varian linear accelerators that deliver a wide range of external beam radiotherapy.  All treatments are given using Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) and treatments such as Intensity Modulated and Volumetric Arc Therapy (IMRT and VMAT or RapidArc) are standard for many patients.

We are also able to successful treat a wide range of tumours using respiratory gating.  Deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH) is the technique we use for left side breast cancer.  The technique of end expiration breath hold (EEBH) is used for tumours in the abdomen and thorax including pancreas, lung and oesophageal cancer.  The London Clinic is the only hospital in the UK to use the Gated RapidArc technology.

Our CyberKnife is at the heart of our stereotactic program.  This technology allows Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) to very small tumours or those that have been found to be inoperable.

Our neurosurgeons are experienced in the use of this technology for treatments of both benign and malignant tumours in the brain, and our Clinical Oncologists use this technology for areas throughout the body to provide a comprehensive Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) programme.

The London Clinic is one of the few private hospitals that offers Selective Internal Radiotherapy (SIRT), a pioneering treatment used to accurately target primary liver cancer or cancer that has spread to the liver from other parts of the body such as bowel cancer.

Intra-Operative Radiotherapy (IORT)

Intra-operative radiotherapy is when a very localised, high dose of radiation is given at the same time as the surgical treatment. The London Clinic is one of the few sites in the UK to offer treatment with the Carl Zeiss Intrabeam® system - a miniaturised X-ray device which is located within our on-site theatres.

The London Clinic works with leading surgeons and oncologists in the field to offer for Breast, Colorectal and Brain indications.
