We offer a full spinal surgery service with detailed investigations to diagnose spinal injuries and disease conditions.

Diagnosing spinal problems

Back pain is a common complaint but that doesn’t mean it is straightforward to find out what is causing the pain.

The London Clinic is equipped with the latest imaging systems that allow spinal surgeons to visualise the spine:

  • X-rays
  • CT scanning
  • MRI scanning
  • Discography
  • Myelography

Physiotherapy services

Many forms of back pain can be treated and managed through physiotherapy.  Our dedicated team can help to relieve back pain with a range of treatments and specialist physiotherapy equipment.

Spinal cord stimulation

This involves spinal surgery to implant electrodes and a pacemaker that delivers electrical stimulation directly into the spinal cord to effectively treat chronic pain.

Spinal surgery techniques

Several expert spinal surgeons practise at The London Clinic. We are able to offer:

  • Microdiscectomy: surgery to treat sciatica.
  • Spinal canal stenosis treatments including non-surgical treatments, insertion of interspinous spacers, spinal stabilisation and laminectomy.
  • Lumbar spinal fusion: fusing one vertebra to another using a bone graft technique.
  • Replacement of a vertebral disc with a disc prosthesis, commonly used to treat degenerative disc disease.
  • Stabilising the lumbar spine, an alternative to spinal fusion that retains spinal flexibility.
  • Surgery for scoliosis, which is available for adolescent scoliosis and degenerative scoliosis in older adults.
  • Kyphoplasty: surgery to treat vertebral compression fractures.
  • Spinal cord stimulation: trial and implantation of an electrical stimulator and pacemaker to treat chronic back pain.

Treating spinal tumours

Deciding how to treat a patient with spinal tumours is always done through a multi-disciplinary team meeting where the patient’s imaging results and tests and the results of their clinical examination are discussed in detail.

Advanced facilities for spinal rehabilitation

We have a range of facilities to help patients recovering from spinal surgery, including our hydrotherapy pool and full physiotherapy service.
