The team is committed to providing patients with the highest standard of imaging services, striving to ensure patients are looked after from the first minute they have contact with the department until completion of their imaging procedures.
The team aims to accommodate and provide the best service possible to our referring Clinicians.
The team offers a wide range of state-of-the-art imaging services across two comfortable and welcoming sites for both in-patient and out-patient procedures.

Radiology department assistants (RDAs)
Our RDA’s are vital in ensuring the smooth timely running of our department. The team of eight RDA’s is split in to two groups. Three Band A RDA’s coordinate the ultrasound sessions for the hospitals’ consultant radiologists. They also help out in interventional procedures.
They are super organised and enjoy working closely with our consultant radiologists and our patients. The RDA Band B’s work tirelessly to transport our valued patients to and from the imaging department. They are friendly and really enjoy their jobs and the time they spend with patients.
Interpreters
Interpreters are an integral part of the service we offer to International patients, ensuring our patients are welcomed and made to feel at home at The London Clinic.
Nurses
The team nurses are specialised interventional nurses who care for our patients undergoing procedures or treatments. They are an integral part of the multidisciplinary team and use their skills to identify and meet patient’s needs. The Radiology nurses are excellent communicators and provide an exceptional level of patient care.
Radiographers and technologists

They have excellent people skills enabling good communication with patients, consultants and other teams within The London Clinic. The role of a radiographer is highly skilled and challenging, and the team focuses on patient care and welfare to ensure positive patient experiences in the imaging department.
PACS (picture archiving communication system) team

This system stores patient medical imaging procedures enabling high quality viewing, reporting, distribution and management of clinical images. Referring clinicians can access the PACS remotely and have immediate access to imaging procedures and reports.

Spotlight on some of our imaging team members
Emma Spellman - Head of Imaging

Emma recently joined The London Clinic’s Imaging and Nuclear Medicine department, which uses medical imaging techniques such as x-rays to diagnose and treat diseases and injuries. Emma now leads a team of 60 radiographers, nuclear medicine technicians, nurses and healthcare assistants.
Jacqui O’ Kelly - Senior Radiographer
Radiology is always evolving; and the team is constantly striving to stay up to date with the newest scanners and latest imaging techniques in order to meet the ever increasing demand for scans. This rapidly changing radiology landscape ensures her role remains interesting and challenging with always something new to learn.
One of the aspects of the job she particularly enjoys is teaching MR to both new and existing staff members. This can be challenging but rewarding when they take on new knowledge and eventually can run a scanner themselves. The department has visiting students from our affiliated university come in to the department to observe only, and Jacqui enjoy showing them what we do.
CT and MR equipment can initially appear intimidating, but newer designs are shorter and wider and much better tolerated by patients. She is here to reassure you and explain the procedure to ensure we obtain the best quality scan for you and your doctor.
Christopher O’Sullivan - Radiology Department Assistant
He ensures that the team of five assistants work well together and that a patient experience in the department goes as smoothly as possible. His team transport all patients from rooms to the procedure and his aim is to make the experience hassle free. Radiology has expanded constantly since he began at our private hospital with ever increasing demands for scans and procedures, with a new nuclear medicine department keeping him busy.
The most interesting aspect of his role is meeting patients, as it is the primary focus of his work.
Understanding their needs during their time with us is of utmost importance and he strives to ensure that standards of care and attention are the best they can be. He is a happy type of person and very helpful and would be delighted if you said help when you are next in the department.
