Macmillan Award of Excellence

February

The London Clinic cancer centre - the Duchess of Devonshire Wing - achieved an overall score of 5 (excellent) in its first Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) assessing our treatment of patients affected by cancer.

The London Clinic Centre for Robotic Surgery, created to support consultants to deliver the best possible surgical outcomes for patients, makes big news within the clinical community, featuring in a number of publications. The centre specialises in areas such as urology, orthopaedics, gastrointestinal, colorectal, ENT and gynaecology, using a multi-disciplinary approach.

MISS SOHIER ELNEIL INTERVIEWED BY SKY NEWS ON VAGINAL MESH SURGERY

Miss Sohier Elneil, Consultant Uro-gynaecologist and Uro-neurologist at The London Clinic, was interviewed by Sky News about new guidance from health watchdog NICE concerning vaginal mesh surgery.

PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL JAG ACCREDITATION FOR ENDOSCOPY SERVICE

May

Our Endoscopy team celebrate after achieving the sought-after UK accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians Joint Advisory Group on gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy (JAG). The team, led by consultant Dr Rehan Haidry, lead nurse Edwin Abacan and governance lead Dr Edward Seward, carries out over 8,000 endoscopy procedures every year.

FIRST PROSTATE CANCER PATIENT TREATED WITH LUTETIUM-177 PSMA

June

The London Clinic treated its first patient with Lutetium-177 PSMA therapy, a molecular radiotherapy treatment that targets and kills cancer cells precisely, minimising damage to healthy cells and tissue.

LAUNCH OF LANDMARK CLINICAL TRIAL FOR BRAIN CANCER TREATMENT

July

The London Clinic is the first and only UK hospital to participate in a landmark international phase 3 clinical trial of a treatment called intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) for glioblastoma multiforme, a brain cancer with a high mortality rate.

The London Clinic is one of a small number of hospitals to offer adult patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma – an aggressive form of blood cancer - a new, cutting-edge form of immunotherapy called CAR-T cell therapy.
