Mr Mahi Muqit
Mahi is a Consultant Cataract and Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, with expertise in cataract surgery, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, medical retina, vitrectomy surgery & surgical retina. Chief/Principal Investigator of national NIHR/global clinical trials in diabetic retinopathy, artificial vision “bionic eye" trials at Moorfields BRC.
Bio
Mahi completed advanced vitreoretinal surgery fellowship training at Oxford Eye Hospital, with expertise in complex cataract surgery, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, medical retina and vitrectomy surgery. He is a co-author of the UK Diabetic Retinopathy Guidelines for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and International Council of Ophthalmology Diabetic Eye Care Guidelines. Mahi runs national and global clinical trials at Moorfields Eye Hospital BRC, and awarded a prestigious NIHR research grant for a national UK randomised clinical trial to investigate sight-threatening infections in eye surgery. He is the leading UK surgeon in the field of artificial vision "bionic eye" subretinal implants for blinding eye conditions such as age-related macular degeneration.
