Dr Lawlor trained in dermatology in the UK, after doing urticaria research in St John's Institute of Dermatology after Accreditation.

Her longstanding consultant posts were in the East End of London, in Newham and when this service closed, at the Royal London Hospital.

She has consulted part time at the Cutaneous Allergy Service in St Thomas' Hospital both clinically and as a Dermatology Teacher of Postgraduates since her appointment as a consultant.

She has published extensively mainly in the field of urticaria.
