Mr Robert George qualified in Medicine from Southampton University in 2000. He has completed his basic cardiothoracic training at St Thomas's and Royal Brompton Hospitals. He was awarded his PhD from Imperial College in 2011. During his career he has developed an interest in healthcare management and in 2009 he has completed an MBA in Life Sciences and Healthcare Management.
Robert then undertook his higher surgical training in Thoracic Surgery rotating between Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Sheffield Teaching NHS Trust Hospital and Hull & East Yorkshire NHS Foundation Trust. In 2016 he was appointed as a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) - a state of the art hospital that provides first class general and specialist services to patients in London and from throughout the UK.
Mr George has special interest in minimal invasive thoracic surgery, rib fixation, and endobronchial management of airway diseases. He also has an interest in chest wall conditions and rib fixation.
Mr George has a strong academic background with numerous contributions to the field of cardiothoracic surgery. He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed articles in international journals and he is involved in several research projects and trials. He is a member of the Pleural Effusion Working Group of the European Society of Thoracic Surgery and he sits on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Thoracic Disease.
