Janindra Warusavitarne is a consultant colorectal surgeon with a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative colitis), anal fistula, haemorrhoids (piles), diverticular disease, intestinal failure surgery and repair of complex hernias of the abdominal wall. 

His NHS practise is based at St Mark’s Hospital which is an internationally renowned hospital for bowel disorders. He was trained in Australia and was invited to join the staff at St Mark’s Hospital in 2010. 

He is internationally renowned and has written many papers and book chapters on the subjects of his interest and delivered over one hundred international and national lectures on the topics. 

Janindra is considered a key opinion leader and innovator and has been involved in many new procedures such as video assisted fistula treatment and laser treatment for haemorrhoids and anal fistula

Janindra is an expert in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and has performed many such procedures using both standard laparoscopic techniques as well as single port surgery which allows for minimal scarring.
