Mr Francesc Malagelada is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon working in the largest trauma centre in the UK, The Royal London Hospital. He specialises exclusively in the treatment of foot & ankle conditions, in addition to conducting advanced research having completed a PhD on minimally invasive surgery of the foot.

Professional profile

After qualifying from Medical School at University of Barcelona in 2005, he undertook his Trauma and Orthopaedics training in Spain and the UK at the most prestigious institutions including The Royal London or the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. To gain further specialised expertise, he undertook a British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society fellowship in Windsor, UK. He was awarded the esteemed ESSKA-AFAS international fellowship aimed at young promising orthopaedic surgeons in the field of Foot & Ankle.  

Since 2017 he has been practicing as a consultant at the Royal London Hospital where he joined a world-renowned team of orthopaedic surgeons. He is actively involved in research and has published extensively in the most respected international journals and textbooks. His research in the field of minimally invasive surgery culminated in a PhD which was awarded the highest "Cum Laude" distinction. 

Whenever possible he performs minimally invasive surgery or arthroscopy (keyhole) using the latest techniques resulting in faster recovery and almost unnoticeable scars.
