Mr Colin Hart read Medicine at Leicester Medical School and went on to train in London and the East Midlands. He studied at the Royal Free Hospital for his Doctorate and was awarded his MD by the University College London. Appointed from his Fellowship, he began his first Consultant role at University College Hospital in 2013. He has been a General, Colorectal and Emergency surgeon at the Royal Free Hospital since 2015.
He is proficient in a wide variety of both keyhole and traditional procedures for abdominal and pelvic surgery, which is performed where appropriate under local, regional or general anaesthesia. He regularly manages complex abdominal wall hernias and performs major abdominal and colorectal procedures. He is experienced in the assessment and management of most surgical emergencies.
Mr Hart is experienced in the traditional management of more minor complaints, but favours more novel but proven techniques such as Transanal Haemorrhoidal Dearterialisation (THD) for the management of haemorrhoids. He treats skin lesions including pilonidal disease, performs muscle and general excision biopsies, treats all hernias and manages anorectal complaints such as abscesses, fistulae and fissures.

He has published in a wide variety of subjects and maintains a close interest in research related to the management of hernias, stem cell research and the role of diet and antioxidants in cancer.
