Professional profile

He was formerly a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the Royal Marsden Hospital and St Bartholomews Hospital London, where he was the Lead Consultant in the Breast Surgical Unit for a number of years.

He specialises in the management of Malignant and Benign Breast conditions including non-cancerous conditions such as Breast Lumps; Breast Pain; Breast Nodularity; Breast Mastitis; Abscess, Nipple Discharge and Axillary (arm pit) swellings and Genetic Advice.

For Malignant conditions he specialises in Breast Conservation, Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy, Skin Sparing Mastectomy with Immediate Reconstruction in conjunction with Mr Kelvin Ramsey Plastic and Reconstruction Specialist at The Royal Marsden Hospital Chelsea, London.

He is a recognised British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO) specialist treating both symptomatic and screen detected cancer patients.

He provides a one stop diagnostic service combing with leading London Radiologists. For patients with Breast Cancer he works closely with renowned and progressive Clinical and Medical leading Oncologists. He also works alongside Internationally renowned Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons at The Royal Marsden Hospital as a Honorary Consultant Breast Surgeon, as well as at The London Clinic, accepting referrals for diagnosis, treatment, second opinion and recurrence.

As a private patient you will have direct access to experienced cancer specialists, leading-edge diagnostic techniques and treatments, and individualised techniques and treatment plans based on the latest research.

He was awarded an MBE for services to medicine and humanitarian issues and for his charitable relief work abroad. He established a Women's Cancer Unit in the North East of England, and chaired a group of 80 surgeons who created the MRC examination at The Royal College of Surgeons.

A founder trustee of HART (Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust), a former trustee of The Trust House Charitable Foundation and a long time Programme Director of MAP (Medical Aid to Palestinians),

He has published widely; with 62 surgical publications in postgraduate medical education literature and has written various chapters in standard surgical textbooks.

He sat on the Editorial Board of International Medical Journals; and has been a regular reviewer for leading international surgical journals; The British Journal Of Surgery and The World Journal of Surgery. He is actively involved in maintaining high surgical standards, was an examiner at The Royal Colleges of Surgeons both in the UK and Ireland, and was Chairman of The Court of Examiners. He also works with The General Medical Council of England, The Medical Council of Ireland and The Isle of Man Government where he provides medical expert opinions and reports relating to the standard of surgical care, helping to keep both Patients and Doctors safe.
