Professional profile

Julie Moore specialises in managing patients with Chronic Lung Diseases including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis and asthma. She has worked as a respiratory physiotherapist for the past 25 years, and most notably works with elite athletes with asthma and disordered breathing patterns, providing the specialist input for athletes at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Julie also worked in New Zealand and Australia for a period of time where she specialised in helping patients with hyperventilation syndrome and breathing pattern disorders.

Being passionate about breathing disorders, Julie lectures across the UK to help physiotherapists develop their knowledge in the management of Disordered Breathing Patterns and is a dedicated committee member of the UK Physiotherapy for Breathing Pattern Disorders Group.

Always seeking to maximise patient ability and performance, Julie is also a qualified Buteyko practitioner and has continued to be actively involved in breathing retraining programmes for patients with asthma.

Julie qualified with a BSc Hons degree in Physiotherapy from University of Northumbria, Newcastle Upon Tyne in and in 2005, she completed her Masters degree in Physiotherapy at Brighton University, publishing her research on exercising patients with COPD.
