Professional profile
Dr Rebecca Roylance is a medical oncologist specialising in the medical management of breast cancer.
After qualifying from St Georges Hospital Medical School, with a first in her undergraduate degree she completed medical oncology training at UCLH and the Royal Free Hospital. She undertook a PhD at Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now Cancer Research UK) investigating the genetics of breast cancer before completing her specialist oncology training whilst a Cancer Research UK Clinician Scientist.
Her laboratory work during this time continued at Cancer Research UK and focussed on the specific genetic changes occurring in low grade breast cancer. On completing her training she was awarded a HEFCE Senior Clinical Fellowship and took up a Consultant post at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, before moving to UCLH.
Her clinical and research interests continue solely in the field of breast cancer. She is active in clinical research and leads on a number of breast cancer clinical trials both as chief and principle investigator, as well as being a member of a number of clinical trial management groups.
Nationally she has been a member of the NCRI breast clinical studies group and is a member of the metastatic breast cancer subgroup.
She is the breast pathway director for London Cancer, which is now part of the UCLH cancer collaborative and National Cancer Vanguard, whose aims are to improve patient experience, and outcomes by changing the way cancer care is provided.
