Dr Irvingisa Consultant Gastroenterologist with a specialist interest in inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), functional gut disorders (for example, irritable bowel syndrome) and endoscopy, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Heis actively involved in research in IBD and functional gut disorders andis regularly invited to lecture both nationally and internationally.
He was responsible for introducing the low FODMAP diet to the UK after returning from Australia wherehe worked with the people who devised it.
Dr Irvingis on the IBD committee of the British Society of Gastroenterology and sit on several editorial boards. His private practice is based at The London Clinic, as part of London Digestive Health, a group of 6 teaching hospital gastroenterologists who work together to provide high quality care in gastroenterology and endoscopy.
HisNHS practice is at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital wherehe is the lead for endoscopy training.
